Datastory 3.0

It’s official.

On December 6, 2022 Datastory joined the E.A. Langenfeld family.

We couldn’t be more excited.

This change in our ownership structure represents a greater alignment with our vision and expanded resources for Datastory’s growth.


The Backstory

For almost exactly a decade, Datastory has been advancing the way business leaders make strategic decisions using location intelligence. We’ve helped our clients accelerate their success and expand their impact. Along the way, we’ve sought out like-minded business leaders with whom we go to market. These Affiliates have been an integral part of our ability to make location intelligence relevant to each specific industry we serve.

E.A. Langenfeld has been one of these trusted Affiliates for nearly two years, helping us deliver best-in-class location intelligence solutions to national retail channels with clients like Ace Hardware. As a result, it feels quite natural to become their partner and expand upon our successes together!

The Partnership

Founded in 1960, E.A. Langenfeld (EAL) built its reputation serving the retail hardware channel and has since expanded into multiple channels to provide sales, marketing, in-store execution to retailers across the US.

As a new member of the EAL family of companies, Datastory will advance the use of location intelligence within these retail channels. EAL’s infusion of sales and marketing resources and expertise will expand our reach into our existing channels in real estate, nonprofits, economic development, healthcare, faith communities, and education.

Upgrading our Business

  • Datastory 1.0 - When Matt Felton founded Datastory in 2013, Datastory’s work was focused on enabling better real estate decisions and we did so as a GIS services company, implementing Esri technology for our clients.

  • Datastory 2.0 - After several years of noticing patterns in the work we delivered, we deliberately matured into a location intelligence software company providing MapDash™, a turnkey solution built on Esri core technology. We expanded our work to serve multiple industries beyond real estate that included nonprofits, healthcare, economic development, faith communities, and education.

  • Datastory 3.0 - Today, we are leaning into our relationship with EAL to leverage their 6+ decades of experience in retail channels to expand our reach into that industry. At the same time, we’ll expand our reach into existing channels with the help of EAL’s sales and marketing expertise.

Datastory and E.A. Langenfeld are better together. We’ve proven that over the past two years as Affiliates. Now, as partners, we’re hitting the accelerator to raise each other’s game and help our clients make even better business decisions using location intelligence.
